Redesign and launch of Etownian.com

After becoming the editor-in-chief of the Etownian, Elizabethtown College’s student newspaper, my first project was to initiate a complete redesign of the Etownian’s web presence, which I completed over the course of 2011. The culminating project of this revamp was the complete redesign of Etownian.com.

With the new website came new positions on the paper, including Webmaster and Asst. Webmaster, as well as a new source of ad revenue.

Before the transition to the WordPress platform, we were using Access Media’s popular CollegePublisher software. Although this software had some benefits and was fairly easy to use, the backend was very clunky, and the main product came out looking formulaic. With WordPress, I was able to create a custom site from the ground up, and have a streamlined backend system that would be easy for future editors and writers to continue to grow without prior HTML experience.
